D.A V. Public School, Kota            Celebrating 27 Years of Enlightening lives.....
With the chanting of Vedic Mantras, each day DAV Public School, Kota, springs back into life & action standing committed to develop the fundamentals of good education-an education for human excellence - scripting the destinies of thousands across the country. Rishi Dayanand's philosophy blended with modernity, provides enough exposure of the macro world to our students but always within the Vedic framework making them individuals not only rich in wealth of knowledge but also in endearing values - enshrined in our rich cultural heritage.
Our school had a humble beginning in 1985 with strength of 40 students and 4 teachers in a rented building. Over the past 27 years, the school has grown exponentially, crossing innumerable milestones, making a place amongst the prestigious schools of C.B.S.E., with now approximately 3,500 students and 110 teachers, which indeed speaks volumes of its popularity and efficacy.
With no intimidating corridors of learning, yet disciplined, under the leadership of a dynamic Principal, a competent faculty, an invigorating ethos and thrust on communication skills, the school students have carved a commendable niche in the educational circles. Our students have an enviable track record in academics, sports & cultural activities alike. Total selections in various competitive examinations have also seen an astronomical rise year after year.
In 2000 Nitin Gupta, captured AIR 1st in IITJEE, Himanshu Asnani got AIR 4th in IITJEE 2005. In 2009 Arushi Chaudhary got RPMT 1st and 4th AIR in AIIMS, Jigish Ruparelia topped AFMC, Shubham Tulsiani got AIR 2nd in IITJEE. Sameer Agarwal secured AIR 23rd in 2010 in IITJEE. Vishu Jain and Sarthak Dangi ranked 11 and 45 respectively in AIPMT. In session 2010-11 total 101 students were selected in IITJEE. Shubham Mehta secured AIR 2nd, Shubham Meena got AIR 15th (ST Category), Nehal Bhandari got AIR 83rd. Total Selections in AIEEE were 83, in AIPMT-09 and in RPMT-07. Shrey Balani stood 1st in RPMT, Shalaj Jain 3rd and Rajat Gupta stood 5th.
The school also provides an excellent infrastructure. The Open Air Theatre, Conference Room, A.V. Room, Laboratories, Library, Badminton Hall, Basketball Court, Computer Labs, Gymnasium are the best by all standards to give the students adequate exposure and training. Going beyond challenges and staying focused towards our vision, the possibilities of how high we'll flap our wings and soar are indeed limitless and truly endless......

Mahatma Hansraj
(19th April 1864 to15th Nov. 1938)

Hans Raj was born in a small town, Bajwara, in district Hoshiarpur on April 1864. He lost his father before he was 12 and had to be looked after and educated by his elder brother who drew a meager salary of Rs. 40 per month. The family moved to Lahore where Hans Raj joined a missionary school. He was incensed by the slighting references to Hindu pantheism, worship of idols and caste prejudices by a Christian teacher. But while he was still a student Hans Raj had fallen under the spell of the teaching of Swami Dayanand Sarswati, and his stirring appeal to rejuvenate Aryan Hinduism by going back to the Vedas which believed in one God, "OM" rejected idol worship and the caste system. Young Hansraj volunteered his services to the Arya Samaj, and was appointed the Headmaster of the Dayanand Anglo-Vedic High School in Lahore. Under the leadership of Hans Raj, this school not only blossomed into a college, but it also became one of the outstanding educational institutions of Lahore. (It is believed that "OM" carved in Sanskrit may still be there)

As Arya Samaj took deeper roots in Punjab because largely due to a band of devotees like Lala Lajpat Rai, Pandit Guru Dutt Vidyarthi and Lala Sain Das. Hans Raj who could have easily got a job in government service decided to accept the headmastership of a non-existent school with no pay. Under the leadership of Hansraj ji's and his comrades-in-arms who had opened relief camps, notwithstanding adverse circumstances succeeded in reconverting to the Vedic dharma more than 2500 Kerala Hindus who had been forcibly made Muslims in the Mopla rebellion. Hansraj ji, even before he earned the loving and respectful prefix `Mahatma was a perfect motivator of men par excellence. He would achieve the unachievable through perfect teamwork. Every member of the team carried on his duties assigned by Hansraj ji as if it was a struggle for his own survival.

The influence of the Arya Samaj was widespread in Lahore, and it played a significant role in shaping the outlook of the middle classes of the city. From the DAV days, right from its inception on the first of June in 1886 in the Arya Samaj Lahore, Hansraj ji had learnt to treat his staff and students as his own kith and kin. Boys of DAV school and later of the DAV College were treated like his own sons, irrespective of caste, creed or colour. No wonder Sir Shahabuddin, Speaker of the Punjab Legislative Assembly of undivided India and an ex-DAV School student spoke thus on the demise of Mahatma Hansraj ji:

"When my father died, I became fatherless,
When my mother died, I became motherless,
Today on the death of Lala Hansraj, I am
Reduced to the state of an ORPHAN. "

Hans Raj did by leading the country from the darkness of ignorance to the enlightenment of knowledge. He devoted his whole life serving the DAV institutions and also served as president of Arya Samaj Lahore and Arya Pratinidhi Sabha Punjab. Because of his services, sacrifice and simplicity people called him as Mahatma. Without doubt the largest non-governmental educational organization in the world is the chain of Dayanand Arya Vedic schools and colleges spread over the length and breadth of the country.

Mahatma Hansraj preached well. He practiced what he preached. "Sandhya" (Vedic prayer), "Swadhyaya"(self study), "Samaj Satsang" (weekly religious session of the Arya Samaj), "Swadesh," (loyalty to the motherland) and "Sewa" (service of man) were the five precepts he lived by. He would exercise his body through morning walks and take an occasional break by retreating to the hills. Mahatma Hansraj had unflinching faith in the Vedic Dharm as propounded by Swami Dayanand Saraswati. He lived a full life, served the DAV institution for 25 years without accepting a paisa as pay and devoted another 25 years to the service of mankind. Indeed Lala Hansraj was a Mahatma par excellence who motivated men to touch the sky with glory.
The end came on November 14, 1938 and his sons, daughters, grandchildren and innumerable friends were around him.

  Mahatma Anand Swamiji Sarawati

Mahatma Anand Swami Ji
Mahashay Khushal Chand Ji, later known as Mahatma Anand Swami Ji Sarawati started Daily Milap in Lahore on the 13th of April 1923. He was a Social Reformist and an instrument of social change while fighting tooth and nail for the freedom of the country. Gradually, through the love of the people, Milap actually grew and prospered and, even in its current functioning, carries with it many values which it has stood for over the years. As the name of the newspaper suggests, it is spreading the message of harmony, love and brotherhood amongst mankind.

  About DAV Movement

D.A.V. MOVEMENT

Towards Brighter tomorrow....

The DAV movement was founded in 1886, to spread the ideals of Swami Dayanand Saraswati, "the first great architect of modern India", who was fired with a zeal for social & political reforms. He realised that national salvation lay in educating the masses, especially women and stressed on the rediscovery and reinterpretation of the Vedas and the Upanishads. DAV is the largest Non-Governmental Educational Organisation in the country managing more than 725 educational institutions in India and abroad which include not only schools but also institutes of higher learning such as Arts/Science/Commerce Colleges, Dental Colleges, Ayurvedic Colleges, Engineering Colleges etc.

DAV Institutes have rendered a unique service in not only dispelling ignorance and illiteracy but also in producing firebrand patriots, freedom fighters, social reformers, intellectuals, legal luminaries, doctors and engineers of unparalleled merit, integrity and calibre. The growth of the DAV society can be attributed to the secularism inherent in the Indian Culture which is symptomatic of unity amidst diversity. Jt has assumed new dimensions, unprecedented in the annals of quality education and caters to the educational, physical, moral and scientific needs of the children.
